Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif spend quality time togetherSpotted: Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif sneak into a vanity van

Ajab Prem?

Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif may have the expertise in dodging the paparazzi from clicking them together, but they still can’t escape the prying lenses.

On April 29, Katrina and Ranbir were busy with their respective shoots at Film City when in between the shots Ranbir casually walked out of the sets to see Katrina at an adjacent shooting location. Reports say the two then quietly sneaked into a vanity van to spend quality time together.

The two emerged after about one hour and proceeded back to their respective shooting locations. After all, work couldn’t be neglected.

This was just one of the many sightings of Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif together. The two have so far maintained that they are just good friends, but given the piles of photographic evidence suggesting more than friendship, they might be compelled to let the world in on the truth.

The duo has worked together in two films so far -- Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahaani and Raajneeti. They were first reported to be dating during the shoot of Ajab Prem Ki… That was the time Katrina was breaking up with Salman Khan.

‘Gunday’: Desi girl Priyanka Chopra wooed by Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor

‘Gunday’: Desi girl Priyanka Chopra wooed by Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor

Priyanka with Ranveer and Arjun

Who can believe that a charming actress like Priyanka Chopra is the actual gundi on the sets of Gunday. Her two co-stars Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor believe so, but for us she is always the stunning desi girl. During the shoot of one of the songs from the film, she actually was the cynosure of all eyes, looking every bit beautiful in a saree.

Though the movie Gunday revolves around two inseparable friends, played by Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra plays a very pivotal role. The film, set in the 70s, requires Priyanka to flaunt a traditional look. Also, the movie is set in Kolkata, where the women mostly prefer wearing sarees. But Priyanka will also be seen sporting retro chic in the film.

Thus, for the special song, shot at the famous Dakhineshwar temple in Kolkata, with Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor, she was seen in an orange jamdaani saree, paired with a green low-back blouse, and her hair adorned with flowers in a true retro style. While the actress was in naughty mood, Ranveer and Arjun were trying to woo her, and literally wore their hearts on their shirts.

The Gunday team wrapped up their Kolkata schedule by March end, and the cast and crew will now shoot in Mumbai. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the movie is produced by Aditya Chopra.

Sonam Kapoor to shoot 'Khubsoorat' from August

Sonam Kapoor's 'Khubsoorat' ready to roll in August

Sonam Kapoor will start shooting for the remake of the Hrishikesh Mukerjee-directed 1980 family drama ‘Khubsoorat’ from August.

The camera will start rolling for "Khubsoorat" during monsoon and its lead actress Sonam Kapoor says the story has been completely changed while retaining the spirit of the characters.

"I will start shooting this August," she told IANS.

The Hrishikesh Mukerjee-directed 1980 family drama, which won the Filmfare award for the best film, was about a young fun loving girl who falls in love with a doctor, played by Rakesh Roshan. How she wins the hearts of everyone in her beau's family that revolves around his mother's strict regimen is the story all about.

If Rekha had wowed everyone with her happy-go-lucky performance, Deena Pathak as a strict family head added the right contrast to the story.

"The whole point of the film is to capture the spirit of the character. The story is completely changed. So, I want to capture that spirit. Rekha did it so beautifully... even if I can do 10 percent of that, it is great."

Making her character more contemporary is what Sonam Kapoor aims at.

"I am scared before getting into any character. I hope to make it more current and how young girls are right now... more vibrant," she said,

She is convinced that girls will appreciate the new version of "Khubsoorat" and added: "It will be very Mills and Boonish. I make movies for girls. It is a chic flick."

Sunny Leone to hot up ‘Welcome 2’, replaces Mallika Sherawat

Sunny Leone to hot up ‘Welcome 2’, replaces Mallika Sherawat
Sunny Leone replaces Mallika Sherawat in ‘Welcome 2’?
Bollywood has taken a shine to the stunning Sunny Leone for sure! After the actress signed a three-film deal with producer Parag Sanghvi for a staggering Rs 5 crore, she is again in the news for bagging the Welcome sequel.

The industry is abuzz with the talk that Sunny Leone has replaced Mallika Sherawat in Welcome 2, titled Welcome Back. Yes, Sunny will essay the role of the love interest of Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor in the film. The role was played by Mallika Sherawat in the original.

Apparently, the makers of Welcome 2 feel that Mallika has lost her charm. Also, her last movie Kismat Love Paisa Dilli (2012) tanked without a trace at the box office.

“Mallika is busy doing her television show, and besides, the filmmakers felt that she isn’t as popular as she was during the making of Welcome…” a source is quoted as saying. Sunny Leone, on the other hand, enjoys a good fan-base because of her growing popularity, and will hot up the screen with her beauty and oomph.

While Mallika Sherawat is trying to revamp her career and soon will be seen on Bachelorette India -- Mere Khayalon Ki Mallika, the Indian version of the American reality show The Bachelor, Sunny Leone is currently busy with Ragini MMS 2, and is looking forward to other projects which she has signed. Her item song Laila from Shootout At Wadala is a chartbuster.

Do you think Sunny can do justice to the role, because Mallika was very impressive as the siren romancing the two dons in Welcome?

Aamir Khan celebrates his 25 years in Bollywood

Never thought I'd come this far: Aamir KhanAamir Khan celebrates his 25 years in Bollywood
Celebrating his silver jubilee in Hindi films, superstar Aamir Khan recalled how he’s learnt from his mistakes through 25 years of hard work.

Aamir Khan, who completed 25 years in filmdom Monday, attributes this success to the mistakes he made over the years. One of the most respected and versatile actors of his generation, he admits when he started, he never thought he would come this far.

"I have had unsuccessful films, but I learned a lot from those films. I give my failures as much importance as my success," Aamir said at a press conference Monday to celebrate his silver jubilee in the industry.

His debut film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak came out on April 29 in 1988 and turned out to be a game changer at the box office, which was reeling under hackneyed plots and flops.

A fresh film with fresh faces brought in a breath of fresh air. If the beautifully stitched romantic saga launched Aamir Khan in filmdom, it also introduced Mansoor Khan as a director and gave Juhi Chawla her due.

If the story was fresh, so was the music of the movie that is still remembered for lilting numbers like "Gazab ka hai din", "Akele hain to kya gum hai" and "Papa kehte hain", which were picturised in a completely different style.

Two-and-half decades ago, Aamir was not sure about how his career would shape up.

"When I was new, I didn't know where my career will go. Initially, my films were not even successful, but then I learned a lot from my mistakes," said the 48-year-old whose "Love Love Love", "Deewana Mujhsa Nahin" etc. had bombed at the box office.

"When my three-four films were not successful, I decided I won't sign a film for money, a big banner or a specific person. I decided I will listen to my heart. That is why I started doing less films. I have followed this till date," said the actor who made his mark with his work in "Raja Hindustani", "Sarfarosh" and "Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke".

When he cut down on his assignments, Aamir Khan admits he became butt of a joke.

"The way I used to work was different from the industry's norms. People used to laugh at me and thought that I won't be able to stick for long," said Aamir who not only proved naysayers wrong, but also earned the tag of a "thinking actor".

Year 2001 marked a turning point in Aamir's career as he turned producer with Oscar nominated period drama "Lagaan - Once Upon A Time In India", and later directed issue based film Taare Zameen Par.

Post "Lagaan", he has been part of some of the biggest hits of the decade like Dil Chahta Hai, Rang De Basanti, Ghajini and 3 Idiots.

"I do what I feel is right. I am not scared to walk on the new path and take risk," he said.

After reaching the top of the pyramid, he says: "I never thought this would happen. I can't believe how I have reached here. I am happy that I have entertained people and made them happy."

On the occasion, Aamir thanked directors, filmmakers and other people who have contributed to his career.

"I want to thank writers and directors and other people who have worked with me. They have all contributed to my journey...I also want to thank my audience, they gave me so much of love and respect," he said.

"I want to thank my family. Our field is tough and the family has to go through a lot," said Aamir, who is married to Kiran Rao, a filmmaker.

When it comes to unfulfilled dreams, Aamir has one too.

"I always wanted to work with Dilip Kumar. He is one of the world's top actors and I have missed working with him," Aamir said.

What reminded Salman Khan of 'Karan Arjun' with Shahrukh Khan?

What reminded Salman Khan of 'Karan Arjun' with Shahrukh Khan?
While shooting an ad recently, Salman Khan was reminded of a film he did with Shahrukh Khan years ago.

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan admits that while shooting for an inner wear ad (DixcyScott), he was reminded of his film Karan Arjun.

Directed by Rakesh Roshan, 1995 release "Karan Arjun" featured Salman and Shahrukh Khan together, who were among the top actors of that time. Also starring Raakhee as their mother, the film featured Kajol and Mamta Kulkarni as the female leads.

"Karan Arjun" was a blockbuster.

One of the scenes of blockbuster "Karan Arjun" where Durga, played by Raakhee, says her sons (Karan and Arjun) will come back, was shot in the Mehboob Studio, the same place where Salman has shot for the inner wear ad.

"It (shooting for 'DixcyScott' ad) reminded me of 'Karan Arjun'. I was shooting for 'Karan Arjun' in Mehboob Studio and there was also the same ambience during my introduction scene in the film. It was the same (ambience for ad film) and I was reminded of the scene, 'Mere bete aayenge, Karan-Arjun aayenge, dharti ka seena phaadkar aayenge' and then I enters the boxing ring," said Salman Khan.

Salman is looking 'fit as a fiddle' in the ad, although he has put on some weight recently, but said: "I am just getting back into shape."

He added: "Arbaaz has the worst body among all of us (Salman, Sohail and Arbaaz) and Sohail is the fittest now."

Salman is currently busy shooting for Sohail's directorial venture Mental.

Katrina Kaif did 'Bombay Talkies' for free

Katrina Kaif did not charge acting fee for 'Bombay Talkies'

Download Wallpaper
Bombay Talkies, an anthology film to celebrate the centenary of Indian cinema, is made on a skimpy budget. It’s not a typical commercial enterprise aimed at making big bucks. So very rightly Katrina Kaif did forgo her acting fee for the flick.

Katrina features in a short film by Zoya Akhtar in Bombay Talkies. It tells the story of a star-struck boy who’s obsessed with Katrina Kaif, smitten with her beauty and charm. It is said to be based on a real life incident about a Katrina fan that Zoya came to know a few years back.

So when the chance to make a short film in Bombay Talkies came along, Zoya decided to make a film on it and she even roped in Katrina whom she directed in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.

And guess what? Knowing very well that Zoya Akhtar was working within a small budget of about Rs. 2 crore, Katrina Kaif did not charge a penny for her performance in the film, we have learnt.

Not just Katrina, even Amitabh Bachchan refused to accept any money for the special appearance he made in Anurag Kashyap’s short story in Bombay Talkies.

The other two films in this anthology are by Dibakar Banerjee and Karan Johar. This is the first time Karan Johar has directed something on such a small budget.

Katrina Kaif says Salman has had the biggest impact on her!

The Barbie Doll of Bollywood, Katrina Kaif has always been in the limelight for either her looks, movies or her sexy item numbers! This time, the British-Indian actress has come out speaking about her co-stars. She goes on to say that her one-time beau Salman Khan has had the biggest impact on her and also says that Salman’s advice has never gone in vain.
When asked about how far she has come since her debut, the actress believes that she’s grown in her job and if she hadn’t learnt, she’d be disappointed in herself. She now looks forward to doing something different which excites her.
I consider every film a journey with a director who may not think like me but who understands the way I think,” she said.
The actress admits that she had to wait for her opportunity and strongly believes in proving herself to the world. When asked if she ever felt like an outsider, the actress expressed herself by saying, “I clearly remember having this conversation with filmmaker Vipul Shah. It was my third year in Bollywood. He asked me to wait. So, there was a transition where at first I wasn’t accepted by the industry to now when I know everyone. No one walks into any industry as a newcomer with trumpets behind them. Most of us have to prove ourselves.”
She also said that not growing up in India and not knowing Hindi was the hardest part and that remains her toughest battle.  ”No matter how good I get at Hindi, I’ll have to work 10 times harder than the person who’s fluent in it,” Katrina explains.
When asked how much credit does she gives Salman for her success, the actress was all praise for him, ”He’s had a huge role in my career. There’s no doubt about that. I value his opinion. But as a person, Salman has had the biggest impact on my life. I became friends with him when I was much younger. His persona is very strong. If I were to look back, his contribution has been tremendous. So why are we talking about something as small and segmented as a career? Life is far bigger than a career. Of course, what would my entire life journey have been had I not met that (Khan) family, had I not met Akshay (Kumar). I highly recommend that if Salman ever gives you advice, think about it seriously. I’m not saying he’s perfect but his thinking process is correct. Obviously, having someone who’s so knowledgeable about the film industry was extremely valuable. ”
She also admitted her huge amount of respect and liking for Akshay Kumar, saying that Akshay Kumar helped her remain strong and made her believe in herself.  ”A lot of actors were refusing to work with me at that time. It took a lot of guts for him to agree to be my co-star. Akshay always made me believe in myself. We’ve never had long conversations, we’ve never been back-slapping buddies. But I have a huge amount of respect and fondness for him.
Katrina Kaif confessed that presently, she’s single and wants to keep her personal life to herself as advised to her by Salman Khan himself. ”What right do I have to speak on another person’s behalf? Again, when you’re talking about an equation with someone I’ve known as long as Salman, you’re talking about something that’s important to me. I won’t talk about it in a trivial way. I’m single!” she added.
She not only spoke about her immense amount of respect for Salman and Akshay but she also spoke about the other two Khans of Bollywood, Shahrukh and Aamir!
I am most intimidated by Shah Rukh Khan. I didn’t know whether it was just him or it was the environment on the set. Jab Tak Hai Jaan was a Yash Chopra film, Aditya Chopra was the first assistant director. It was the enormity of the situation. Shah Rukh is an impeccable co-star, always there to guide you,”  the 28-year-old actress said.
As for Aamir Khan, there was so much happening before the start of Dhoom 3 that I didn’t have the time to fret about working with him. So the first scene with Aamir, who’s known to be a perfectionist, was fun. We were just two actors standing there, and Aamir was telling me, ‘Let’s just interact and see how the scene works.’ I never felt like he was judging me. I feared it would be terrifying. But I actually felt extremely comfortable with him,” she added.
Katrina Kaif had been linked to Ranbir Kapoor recently and she had some stuff to talk about him aswell. But like every other celebrity, she has also labelled her links with Ranbir as ‘good friends’..”He’s a fantastic actor. He’s got an incredible approach to his work. He’s got talent and the courage to walk the unbeaten path. Both the films we did (Raajneeti and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani) were fun. Most importantly, they were loved by the audience. He’s a lovely person, fun and a good friend.”
When asked about her present relationship status with Ranbir..”I’ve lost count of the times we’ve been, not been, off and on in a relationship. As I said earlier, I’m not going to speak about my personal life. It’s a pointless conversation. The day I get engaged to whoever I want, it will be clear. ”
She also rubbished the rumours about her going out on dinners, holding hands and watching movies with Ranbir Kapoor. When asked about the same, this is what she had to say, “It’s the first time I’m hearing that going to a theatre with a group of friends means anything. Dissecting each and every story is a futile exercise. Beyond a point, I don’t think it makes sense to talk about one’s personal life.”

Hero Aamir Khan featured on TIME Magazine cover page

aamir khan time magazine cover 475x633
Bollywood star Aamir Khan has been featured on one of the seven special covers of the Time magazine listing the world’s 100 most influential people.
The list includes Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, Delhi lawyer Vrinda Grover and California’s Indian-American attorney general Kamala Harris besides teenaged Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai and US President Barack Obama.
Like Aamir Khan, Malala Yousafzai, “the Pakistani schoolgirl whose advocacy for girls’ rights is just beginning” is also featured on one of the special covers.
Aamir Khan, 48, the Bollywood star who wins praise from composer A.R. Rahman, “has been chosen for using his influence to raise social awareness in India.”
“In a world of false diplomacy and evasiveness, Aamir is a straightforward man,” writes Rahman noting, “He uses his gifts as a charmer to give his audience the most bitter medicine. Hypnotized, we take it without complaint.”
“Aamir has started a movement that will help change the world in which Indians live. Jai ho!” adds the Academy Award-winning composer.
Described as “a trusted counsellor to the ruling Congress Party’s Gandhi family, Chidambaram’s experience is unsurpassed”, writes Time.
Playing “an important role as India opened its economy” in the 1990s, “his reform record has been spotty,” Time says and suggests: “To land India’s top job, he needs to revive his country’s economic fortunes. He may also need to adopt a more Indian style.”
Delhi lawyer Vrinda Grover’s “work as a human-rights lawyer and advocate for women’s rights has meant that she presses down pretty hard”, writes Time.
“Her determination to force an often recalcitrant political and legal system to change was evident in these past few heated months, as a particularly tragic rape in Delhi brought women’s rights center stage,” it notes.
Kamala Harris, 48, is described as a jurist to watch by Nancy Pelosi, the first woman to serve as US Speaker of the House.
“In 2010, after seven years as San Francisco district attorney, she became the first African American, first South Asian and first woman to be elected California attorney general,” Pelosi writes, predicting: “As a new generation of women picks up the mantle of progress, she will always be among the first to stand up and step forward.”

John Abraham has replaced Akshay Kumar ‘Welcome Back’

akshay kumar in welcome 250x166 John Abraham has replaced Akshay Kumar in “Welcome Back”, a sequel to “Welcome”, and says that the Bollywood Khiladi is “happiest” for him.
In the 2007 hit comedy “Welcome”, Akshay played the main lead.
“Akshay is like my elder brother. Whatever I do, I always have a lot of discussions, especially with him. Akshay is happiest for me when I told him that I am doing ‘Welcome Back’. He said it’s a very good film and you should do it,” the 40-year-old said here Tuesday on the sets of TV show “Bade Acche Lagte Hain” where he was promoting his film “Shootout at Wadala.”
“It’s an outstanding script, kids will love it and I am looking forward to doing it,” he added.
John has reportedly charged Rs.15 crore for “Welcome Back”, but did not confirm the news.
“As far as money is concerned, I don’t talk about money at all as I think it’s not as important. I charge because I think I deserve it. But I give it to charity because I think that’s more important,” John said.
John’s next film is much-talked about real life-based crime thriller “Shootout At Wadala”, in which he is playing gangster Manya Surve who was gunned down in the Mumbai police’s first official encounter. A host of actors like Anil Kapoor, Tusshar Kapoor, Manoj Bajpayee and Mahesh Manjrekar feature in it.
But John misses Kangna Ranaut during the promotions of “Shootout at Wadala”. The actress plays his love interest in the film.
“Kangna will join us for the promotions, but right now she is shooting for some film. I miss Kangna a lot and people may not know that Manya Surve’s romantic track is one of the most beautiful romantic tracks, a tragic love story,” John said.
“Kangna has done an outstanding job. We all are missing her and we hope to see her soon,” added John.
Directed by Sanjay Gupta, “Shootout at Wadala” hits theatres May 3. – IANS
